Video from Professor Simon Holland
(In the video above Simon Holland reminds us of how we have forgotten what it means to be amazed and in awe of something in the world around us. He has become one of my favorite You Tube channels, enjoy!) - Andy
Be in Awe of What God has Created for He is Exalted in the Earth!
We in America live out our days, weeks, months maybe even years without wonder and amazement of anything. We walk and often rush through the situations and places in our daily lives without ever acknowledging our gratitude and amazement at just being alive. We have become blind to the wonder of what God has created for us and around us.
Technology among other things has made us numb to what is real.
As sinners, the space between awe/amazement/wonder and complaining is short. All of us were created to live our lives worshipping God and seeing his wonder in everything. Every word, every action, every decision, every desire was meant to be filled with wonder of his grace. We possess hearts that are constantly searching. To lose our sense of awe, wonder and amazement denies God.
Our sin takes wonder, amazement and awe away from us. The Divine is meant to shape our lives. If you are not getting your wonder from above, from our Creator, then you will always look for it somewhere in the environment around you. Things and people quickly become idols. We all know this, not food, sex, money, you name it, nothing will take the place of God in your life.
2 Corinthians 4:4
4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Do you take for granted all the many things God himself has literally breathed into existence and sustains with his words?
Psalm 147:4
4 He determines the number of the stars;
he gives to all of them their names.
We experience God in the boom of thunder (Psalm 29:3–4), the fragility of sheep (Psalm 78:52), the sweetness of honey (Psalm 19:10), the strength of horses (Psalm 20:7), and the lush fields after rain (Psalm 23:2). The Heavens and the Earth, and all the great diversity that fills them, are declaring the glory of God to us.
When was the last time you were in awe of your Lord?
Have you been in awe of Christ death on the cross for all of us. How about his incarnation into humanity? The awe of knowing that the same 'person" who spoke to Moses was the pre-incarnate Christ! Should we not be amazed that when we speak to our Lord He listens!!
Any light in your heart was put there by God. God ended your quest for happiness, and mended your scarred heart. God the Father gave you the brilliance of his Son despite you sin and shame, and then sent his Spirit to open your eyes.
So reclaim your wonder and awe of what God has created!
Accept the reality that many things in God's creation cannot be explained with logic and reason, much is beyond our ability to comprehend. There is much we can never take in completely in this life.
We must constantly remind ourselves that our Maker, Redeemer, Judge, and Friend is always with us until the end of the age. So look, allow your self to be amazed at your life and what our God in his grace sets before us!
Psalm 46:10
10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
