Binding a Book - A 'Cambridge' panel style binding of c.1690-1740

"This differs from my usual fare - I made this video some years ago. About fifteen years ago, I developed a passion for bookbinding, primarily as I was interested in properly understanding how antiquarian books were put together - it became a bit of an obsession. Watch me bind a book in the style of one dating from 1690-1740, which is termed a 'Cambridge' panel binding in the trade. This sort of calf binding, with sprinkled panels and blind-tooled decoration, resembles the fielded panels of timber wainscotting in townhouses and was the common middle-range binding style in this period. This might be instructive to those who love books as I do and soothing to watch for those who love crafts. " from the video introduction
