McConnell Uses Schumer's Own Words, Saying Ending Filibuster Would Ruin Democracy
Ok so what world am I in?
Same one as yesterday, fallen, broken, sinful, stiff-necked and unrepentant. In this world I am among the worst of sinners just as you are.
We have major Republican figures like Trump totally detached from reality, playing the Fascist card. Supposedly there is a large group of people, known as "The Base" who believe every word no matter how absurd. Politic Gossip Monger Steve Bannon and others say things like this: “We’re not complaining about it anymore,” said Bannon on Friday. “Remember, there are no whining and no tears in the War Room. We’re taking action and that action is we’re taking over school boards, we’re taking over the Republican Party through the precinct committee strategy. We’re taking over all the elections.”
Then, then we have Mitch McConnell talking about how the Democrats are taking over our Democracy.
"The Voting Rights Act is still intact, so it's appropriate to ask the question, what's going on here? Well, there's been a lot of talk about big lies. Well, the big lie on the other side is that state legislatures are controlled by Republicans are busily at work trying to make it difficult for people to vote." from the article: Maddow Blog | What Mitch McConnell sees as the Democrats' 'big lie'
There is no moral high ground in the Democratic party as there is none in the Republican party. In today’s Republican party, the tail is wagging the dog. The GOP uppity ups seem to get their talking points and ideas from media influencers (i.e. Trump & Hannity) on podcasts, social media sites, and television. These media influencers, with their millions of indoctrinated followers, convince elected Republicans to say what they want to hear, rather than the other way around. We are watching this happen repeatedly, where political positions are created in the alternative-media universe only to be adopted later by our elected officials in Congress or the local level.
Will we as Christians work at being as Godly as we can possibly be or will we be sucked into the vortex of sin and worldly pride and self-absorption? But are we ? Have we turned away from our Lord and turned to men for safety and protection?
Many Christians have lost the ability to talk and discuss any subject with other people. Tribalism is now the reality within many Churches.
As with Ancient Israel God asks us to worship him, to honor him and to repent and refrain from sin, serve our neighbor! What will you do?
