Exploring the Rise in Political Partisanship as Religious Identity Declines
"The U.S. has seen a rise in the intensity of political ideology even as Americans turn away from religious beliefs. Shadi Hamid, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, wrote about this for The Atlantic and joined CBSN to discuss the danger of blurring the line between religious convictions and political ideology." from video introduction.
We are in a very troubling time realizing that many Christians now are more certain of their political opinions than they are of Christ and his kingdom. Politics has become an idolatrous substitute religion expressed with fundamentalist zeal. Let’s not be remembered as mouthpieces of a current political ideology, but a people that has been humbled “under the mighty hand of God”. Instead of being a trumpet for politics you should yell the loudest about proclaiming Christ, the Lord over every earthly tribe.
