How Do I Stop Rooting My Joy in My Circumstances?

“I can do all things” really means “all things,” not just easy things or things we like. “All things” means, “Through Christ I can be sick, hunger, suffer, be in pain, be persecuted for my beliefs to name but a few.” This puts the promise of Philippians 4:19 in its proper perspective: “My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

We have all done it. I have done it, finding fault and being unhappy in my circumstances. Looking back of course Christ was at work and most of the time He was trying to get me to listen to him, to have faith in his provision. Yet I always thought that by my hard work and clever ways I could do it myself.

I could not then and I cannot now.

I have learned enough from my Lord and the hard knocks I brought upon myself to realize how weak and foolish I am. And I know now that I am the worst sinner I know!

No my joy is never in my circumstances but in my relationship with my Lord today and everyday!!
