Hypocritical Christians and Our Support of Corrupt Politicians "Cancer on Conservatism"

Worship is About God, Not About Us

In the past few days we have seen some information concerning the web of deceit woven by the former President Trump and his sycophants in their attempts to steal the election of 2020.

One of those sycophants was apparently the former Texas Governor/Trump Energy Secretary Rick Perry. He allegedly was the author of a text message sent to then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows the day after the 2020 election saying "aggressive (sic) strategy" for three state legislatures to ignore the will of their voters and deliver their states' electors to Donald Trump,"

Why don't people trust politicians? Because they will lie and change position if it will help them regain power or influence.

This is what Rick Jones said back in 2015 describing the candidacy of then-rival Trump.

"Let no one be mistaken – Donald Trump’s candidacy is a cancer on conservatism, and it must be clearly diagnosed, excised and discarded," Perry said, according to a transcript of his prepared remarks. "It cannot be pacified or ignored, for it will destroy a set of principles that has lifted more people out of poverty than any force in the history of the civilized world – the cause of conservatism."

We all know this is true and it still apply describes Trump. Yet many Americans, sadly many claiming to be Christians have joined in this "Cancerous Tribe."

Trump who talks in lies and in circles cant keep up with his own rhetoric. This is what he said about taking the fifth amendment: "You see the mob takes the Fifth," he said during one rally in Iowa. "If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?"

The comment resurfaced on social media Friday after Roger Stone, a longtime Republican consultant/former adviser to Trump, pleaded the Fifth at a deposition with the January 6th panel.

The hypocrisy is rampant and has been for many years. And its not just Trump we see the same thing from many Democratic politicians and other Republicans as well like Desantis for example.

C. S. Lewis had a keen understanding of politics and natural law and his commnets describes America today.

"...So what does happen when man’s fallenness corrupts natural law and objective morality is no more or barely visible? In such a situation, moral nihilism fills the cultural vacuum of a country and not too far behind is totalitarianism. Germany was swallowed by Nazism for a time. Russia was consumed with Communism for the better part of a century. Yet, Lewis believed totalitarianism could take over liberal democracy just the same albeit in a different form: “a benevolent scientific bureaucracy, which destroys or damages mediating institutions such as the church and the family, and makes genuine freedom … difficult to achieve.” The leaders in such a government will “take charge of the destiny of others. … [themselves] simply men; none perfect; some greedy, cruel and dishonest...” from the article on the C. S. Lewis website: Lewis and Politics

"And at the end of the day, it's a simple proposition: if you're making excuses to avoid cooperating with our investigation, you're making excuses to hide the truth from the American people about what happened on January 6th," Congressman Bennie Thompson, chairman of the committee, said in a statement.

We all know he is right.

There are a few but not many men and women of good character, values and ethics left in our public service. As we as a people have become more Godless and less moral and ethical so has our representatives. WE as Christians must stop worshipping at the alter of Trump or Biden or whomever we think will save us.

Never forget you and I are the worst of sinners. The only way we will save American is to become the most Godly people we can become!

Christ is our Savior and NO MAN can take his place!
