"Christopher Pugliese was born in New York City in 1968. The son of two Contemporary Artists, Richard and Virginia Pugliese. He grew up

surrounded by Art and Artists.

In pursuit of a personal vision he traveled n search of instructors possessing rarefied knowledge. Ted Seth Jacob's, Tony Ryder, Martha and

Walter Erlbacher, Jacob Collins and countless museums filled a ten year period of study that Mr. Pugliese considers to be his background in

Classical Art.

After 20 years of painting commissioned portraits, exhibiting, teaching and working as a book cover illustrator Mr Pugliese is now writing

and illustrating his own book.

His works are in prominent collections and Museums and he considers painting a gateway behavior that leads to philosophy.

"Art is about more than just making images, it is how we define and create ourselves and the cultural values that are important to us"

There is currently a book available from the new Britain Museum of American Art the catalogs his early works and a slightly more extensive

digital book app available on the Apple App store.' from thenewyorkoptimist.com

"I Photographed a Painter Who Grew Up in a SoHo Loft": Painter Christopher Winter Pugliese

"Christopher Winter Pugliese is an artist from New York City. He paints in the manner of his Italian ancestors and considers the process an exploration of his own genetic history. His work is inspired by Renaissance and Italian Baroque paintings and sculptures. Christopher spends his days in the studio painting commissioned and personal works. His work has been exhibited at the Eleanor Ettinger, John Pence, Capro Nason, Arcadia, Hirschl and Adler, Bellwether and Shooting galleries. For inquiries to purchase or commission a painting by Christopher Winter Pugliese, please contact: Themonalisaonfire@gmail.com I spent the past two years creating my first photography book titled 'Loft Law. The Last of New York City's Original Artist Lofts' about artists living under the protection of the Loft Law. The law, enacted in 1982, granted protection and rent stabilization to thousands of artists who were living illegally in commercial and manufacturing zoned lofts in neighborhoods like Soho, Tribeca, and the Bowery after the manufacturing industry predominantly left Manhattan. I photographed and interviewed over 75 artists who are still living in these incredible lofts to this day. The photographs explore some of the most unique beautiful, and hidden artist studios across New York City. The book includes writing and personal stories from the incredible group of artists featured in the book. Buy the book in North America: https://www.artbook.com/9788862088152...
