"I would always ask the question, why do we need a literal temple to have a literal kingdom? Because we do have a literal Kingdom at the end of the book of Revelation, and we don't have a temple. So I don't really see why we need one now. I would suggest to you that if a temple gets rebuilt today, and there is no temple at the end of the book of Revelation, that like something happens to that temple, that's in defiance of this famous temple passage in Ezekiel 40 to 48. Dear Dr. Heiser, Respectfully, you must remember that God is NOT finished with Israel yet (Romans 11). So, in one sense you are correct because Christians don't need a third temple. However, what do the Scriptures say concerning Israel and eschatology as a whole (which, in turn, affects us Christians)? We Chrstians will certianly go through the entire 7-year period called Jacob's Trouble (if we are still alive at that time) and we will be worn out/many killed (Rev. 13:7, 9-10) by the Antichrist/Beast at the 5th seal.
