The Illustrations of John Tenniel

"The name John Tenniel is for many - particularly on this side of the Atlantic - inextricably linked with Lewis Carroll's books Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. So much so that it's hard to think of any of the many subsequent illustrated editions created, or for that matter the animated and live action films produced, that did not owe his original visualisations a debt of gratitude. But he was also a highly regarded visual satirist, and this tribute aims to expand on the crucial contribution he made to both children's illustration and political cartoons in his lifetime." from video introduction
