"The forms in my paintings are juxtapositions of the reflections of the street on large glass windows in New York City that create collage-like interactions with the people inside. Pieces of the forms seem to disconnect from each other, floating and moving as we walk by."

“I am a figurative painter of the urban environment. I was born in Ohio, studied painting and figure drawing at the Cleveland Institute of Art, traveled in Europe for six months looking at paintings; then settled in New York City.

I have spent my life making, exhibiting and selling my paintings in both group and solo exhibitions and to private clients. I won a 2nd Place Award in 2002 from the "National Midyear Exhibit" in Youngstown, Ohio; the Thomas B. Clark Award for American figurative painting at the bi-annual juried exhibition at the National Academy of Design in 1986. and participated in many open group and solo shows. I had an IACA Grant (1918); earlier, a Mid Atlantic-NEA Fellowship (1994); and a CAPS Fellowship NYSCA Grant (1979). I have been represented by many galleries over time: the Atlanta Art Gallery in Atlanta, GA, DFN Gallery in SOHO, NYC; and Capricorn Galleries in Bethesda, MD, among others. I have paintings in museum collections, such as the Smithsonian Museum of American Art and the Cleveland Museum, to name a few, also several hundred in corporate and notable private collections. And, during 2013-2015, I did major, commissioned paintings for the lobbies of residential towers owned by TF Cornerstone in Long Island City, NY and Forest City Ratner Company in Brooklyn, NY.”..." from the article: Elinore Schurr
